Who we are
Eland |
Eland’s academic background is in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. As an athlete Eland was interested in how the body works during movement in sport and how the body recovers during rest. He was introduced to yoga at University, where it introduced him to a more balanced lifestyle and fit with the teachings of overall wellbeing and healthy lifestyle practice.
Having travelled extensively, particularly in India, he found himself trying many different styles of yoga with new teachers and opening up to different methodologies and practices. Eland is the cofounder of a charity, called the Give Project, and believes strongly in giving back to this community. After completing his 200hr teacher training in Bali he feels ready to share his knowledge and practice with others. He believes “Yoga is an incredible practice to create balance in ones life. It also has the potential to create community”. As an athlete, Eland offers his Kinesiology background with a strong anatomical and alignment focus. Using dynamic movements in his sequences, he includes elements of repetition, core work and strength in his routines. Eland brings in a strong pranayama practice and highlights the importance of intention. |
Li Mei |
Mei’s relationship with yoga is a “deep and unconditional love affair”. She fell into yoga as a complementary medicine and an alternative to spinal surgery. Using yoga as rehabilitation and therapy, she followed different styles and teachers of yoga all over the world that ‘spoke’ to her body. She believes part of her life’s purpose is to help reduce emotional stress through mindful yoga teaching. As a qualified high school teacher she regularly uses yoga with her students to bring mindfulness to her classrooms. Having completed 200hr teacher trainings in India, Indonesia, Canada and USA, she has a wealth of offerings to share.
Mei started a private one-on-one, in-home yoga business "Shanti Shanti Therapy" and she also runs all girls classes in schools. Mei’s practice focuses on therapeutic movements for healing and relaxation. She explores the elements of dance and body awareness, connecting breath to movement. Her sequences allow exploration of subtle anatomy and energetic layers through a fluid flow; balancing powerful softness and supported gentleness. |
